Classic Carousel Horses

"Inspired by the old world beauty and fantasy of the carousel, each highly decorated and beautifully styled." - Matchbox 40th Anniversary Catalogue 1990.

 The first edition of the classic horses came with a brass pole and golden base.  The second edition came with coloured plastic bases and are much less common.

Snowflake

Snowflake is a white jumper carousel horse with a yellow mane and hooves. It has a purple and dark pink saddle, a quilted blanket, and light blue, purple, orange and red embellishments. Its charm was usually purple with an orange ribbon (US/Aus) or occasionally pink with a yellow ribbon (Europe).

Daydream

Daydream is a peach jumper carousel horse with an orange mane and hooves. It has a red and white saddle, a fringed blanket, and red, pink, green and yellow embellishments.  Its charm was orange with a pink ribbon (US/Aus/Europe).

Shadow

Shadow is a pale green jumper carousel horse with a turquoise cropped mane and hooves. It has a yellow and turquoise saddle, a floral blanket, and blue, purple, pink and yellow embellishments.  His charm is unknown.

Along with Honey Cup, he is one of the harder to find classic horses.

Starbright

Starbright is a pale pink jumper carousel horse with a pink cropped mane and hooves.  She has a dark and light pink saddle, a patterned blanket and yellow, blue and pink floral embellishments.  Her charm was pearl pink with a yellow ribbon (US/Aus) or dark pink with a light pink ribbon (Europe).
