CAROUSEL MENAGERIE ANIMALS
The Matchbox Carousel collection menagerie featured two camels, two unicorns, two reindeer and two lions.
Camelot
Camelot is a prancing tan camel with magenta saddle and green, pink, blue and yellow blanket and tack. The prototype pictured here from the 1990 catalogue has more painted details than the retail version. Camelot's charm is reddish-orange with a light pink ribbon (US/Aus).
Cameo
Cameo is a prancing beige camel with a yellow saddle and orange, pink, green and lilac blanket and tack. The prototype pictured here from the 1990 catalogue has more painted details than the retail version. Cameo's charm is yellow with an orange ribbon (US/Aus).
Moonbeam
Moonbeam is a blue unicorn with a pink horn. Moonbeam's saddle and tack are pink, green, purple and yellow. The retail version does not have the multicoloured tassels as in this picture from the 1990 catalogue. Moonbeam's charm is baby blue with a yellow ribbon (US/Aus).
Misty
Misty is a pink unicorn with a darker pink horn. Misty's saddle and tack are purple, pink, green, blue and gold. The colours in the retail version do not match the picture from the 1990 catalogue exactly. Misty's charm was pink with a light purple ribbon (US/Aus).

Diamond
Diamond is a white lion with a golden mane. His saddle is cerise pink and purple with light pink and aqua embellishments.
The catalogue depiction of Diamond is vastly different to the produced model and includes tassels and a ribbon decoration on the tail. The mouth is also closed and pose is that of a jumper. The produced version of Diamond is identical to Topaz, but with different colouring.
His charm was the same blue and the ribbon the same light pink as his embellishments. His base was blue.
Topaz
Topaz is a cream lion with yellow gold mane in prancer pose. His saddle is purple and teal with cerise and light pink embellishments.
The catalogue depiction of Topaz is closer to the produced model, when compared to Diamond. There are still some distinct differences: no flowers in the mane, a more furry-looking body and different details. The produced version of Topaz is identical to Diamond, but with different colouring.
